create ya' vibe.

Personally, I hate dressing in the Summer. I'm always hot and uncomfortable. I prefer to slay in the Fall, Winter and Spring. I recently started my entire closet over. I used to dress like I was on a back to school shop-your-way commercial for K-Mart or Sears [not that there's anything wrong with that..], but i'm way too old to have that look. it was time for a change. basically, i gave majority of my clothes away [or sold them on poshmark] and started over.

while i was starting over, i went to stores i'd never shopped at before. these were stores like lululemon, fashion nova, lola shoetique, to name a few. i also changed what i was looking for at stores i shop at all the time including f21, rue 21, etc.

this post isn't about what i got [im creating a lookbook/haul for that -- on youtube], it's moreso about finding yourself and what i did. there's a lot of inspiration out there, but in order for it to be your style, you have to switch it up and put your mark on it.

i wanted a look that was different for me and one that brought me out of my comfort zone, but something that was still classy, ladylike and more on the conservative side. i love a good crop top and shorts, but i don't like being exposed and being all revealing. i don't dislike that trend, it's just not me. so, i had to find inspo and change it up.

1) stay in ya' budget
it can be reaaaaalllly easy to forget we're kinda broke and that our bank accounts don't look like Kylie Jenners (one of my style icons). with this, don't be ashamed to look at some sale/clearance sections. sometimes, you find the best things there.. i know i do. and just bc it's clearance or on sale doesn't mean that it isn't cute and that you can't swag it out and add some sauce to it. i guarantee, if your outfit is cute, someone isn't going to say "that outfit would be cute, but you paid a low amount for that shirt so it isn't cute anymore." no, no, no baby.. we're careful about our coins, ok.

2) use insp. to fuel your desired look
pinterest is my favorite website ok? yes, my favorite. i'm always on there. if i need help styling a piece i got or if i just want some new ideas, i get on and search it. like i recently bought a super cute denim skirt. i has no clue how i wanted to play it, but i figured it out. i went on pinterest and looked at the way some other people styled their skirts and got ideas. i was able to put my own spin on it and when i style it, it's going to be a look.. ok? a LOOOOOOK.

3) dont change who you are
its a difference between changing the way you dress and changing who you are. i wanted some more chic and adult pieces, but i didn't want to change how i am. i didn't want to be revealing and change that aspect of who i am. idk if that makes sense, but be you.

4) look in some unorthodox places
everything that's cute or that catches your eye won't be on the front page of a websites page.. even if it is, so what. look everywhere. amazon lowkey has some items that are popping.. ok? they got some fire pieces. i got all my fashion glasses from there for little to nothing.

5) youtube lookbooks
everybody's style won't match yours.. that's what makes fashion fun. be yourself. you're cute sis, you got this. look online at some other videos of people styling some outfits. with that, you'll get options and ideas. that'll help guide you when you go into a store or online to shop.

6) shop in the off-season
sis, if you think i'm the one in f21 holding up the line in the beginning of June with nothing but jeans and sweaters... you're absolutely right. i'm that one, ok? you get the best deals and a good variety when you shop the off-season. i'll probably get all my summer stuff for next year in around November or December. do that! it sounds crazy, but you'll get the most bang for your buck.

Have you changed your style recently? What tips do you have? What's ya' vibe? What's ya' style?
